I voted for private insurance only - my daughter is white and was 2 at the time of adoption so she wasn't eligible for medicaid.

When we adopted our little girl from foster care, her being on Medicaid was what they called a "benefit" that they gave us. But we put her on on insurance as well. So Our insurance is used as the secondary. It works really well because then we NEVER have to pay anything EVER! Like trying to meet a deductible with ours, or anything. What one doesn't cover, the other picks up. Sometimes Medicaid won't cover a lot of things, then our insurance kicks in and it covers it. And in 3 years we have never had to pay 1 penny. And she has been in the hospital and has a breathing treatment machine at home and was quite sickly. Now she is better, but It is great to have both. It really has turned out to be a "benefit" to have it. I laughed at the beginning....Medicaid a benefit, but we have good insurance... But it has been awesome, especially because of fully paid prescriptions and not having to meet a deductible.
